In a World of Anger...

“Anger is only a natural reaction; one of the mind’s ways of reacting to things that it perceives to be wrong. While anger can sometimes lead people to do shocking things it can also be an instinct to show people that something isn’t right.”

The newspaper prints it… the radio reverberates it…and the television echoes it…

Revolutions, occupancies, bomb plots, sit-ins, protests, suicides, murders, abuse; while not in any specific order the mere presence of said behaviors suggests the people of the world are growing angrier as time moves forward.

Americans are irritate about betrayals in relationships, we seethe at perceived injustices by loved ones and we grow to be annoyed by a lack of respect for ourselves as individuals as well as our needs and desires on a personal level.

We’re furious at our government for an abundant of reasons but lack of concern about finances and taxes, cut-backs and spending; all actions that steal our voice as individuals. We fume at rising health care costs and job loss while Congress dickers and proceeds as if seemingly interested.

We are irate and livid with lying, scamming, cheating, and scandalous actions of others in positions of authority, which then have the audacity to supply hollow apologies with a few bogus tears.

The ever-increasing violence highlights the rage we as citizens undergo as well as a sense of powerlessness, at least I do. Yet, to circumvent a collision course with hostility, I’m choosing to clutch to my heart the following although easier said than done: hatred and anger are powerless when met with kindness.

But within our world in which we live, when is enough enough? And when does it all end?

I choose to laugh. I find silly, stupid stuff to crack me up. Laughter is hatred's worst enemy. Well, I think so anyway.

I get angry about the sad state of the world and I do what I can to help change it. I wish others would do the same.

I find the state of our world very sad as well! I get angry and wish I could do more to help change it. The violence even in my neighborhood is frightening. A sad, but needed post! Thank you, Tracy!

A very thoughtful post. I think, at times, today's anger arises from a feeling of helplessness....we see so much that is so wrong and don't feel like there is anything we can do. I hope we can find ways to turn from the anger towards positive action.

There is so much injustice in the world today, so many things to cause anger. We choose to leave it all at the door of our home and never allow such feelings to enter.

A very thoughtful post...and lots here to contemplate.
I just wish we could all stop being critical. It's a frustrating world we live in. Anger gets us no where...

Hopefully the world will get to the stage where such powerlessness and anger won't be felt by the majority and those most aggrieved (or those who feel the most aggrieved).

Take care

I am kind of in Lin's camp. There is so much in this world that is just wonderful but we are fed a steady stream of nasty via media.
I look for the good and yes, the funny and never fail to take my place in the voting booth. It is the power I still have.

Funny you posted this Tracy. I recently lost a Facebook friend (it was a mutual parting,) because they were so full of anger about everything in the world. It exasperated this person that I choose to see the good and try to be grateful for what I've got.

All the anger that is in the world makes me feel sad sometimes. People are missing out by always focusing on the negative, I think. There is so much good to be grateful for.

Wishing you and yours a happy Thanksgiving!

This is the reason why I very rarely watch the news. It is all so depressing. I like to stay in my happy bubble!

Humor is how I get through the crud. We live in a very imperfect world without much mercy, so I have to laugh.

Happy Thanksgiving!
