Finding my Heart's Desire...

It appears every year around this time, my thoughts drift toward endings. May seems naturally jam-packed with conclusions as we as teachers bid good-bye to students within our care.

This year is no different as congratulations are offered to my students graduating from elementary school and boarding upon the voyage into middle school as their bags are overflowing with worries and trepidations.

As most of you already know, I too will be launching a journey of my own back into the self-contained world where my heart’s desire resides with each and every one of those Kindergarten students with special needs. My luggage is packed as well although not with fears but great anticipation and happiness as I head for home-the precise dwelling where I belong.

“Keep your heart open to dreams. For as long as there’s a dream, there is hope. And as long as there is hope, there is joy in living.”

Beautiful imagery in this post, Tracy. Really lovely. And I am so glad that you are returning home to the kind of classroom you love.

Great quote too--a lot of wisdom there.

There are many mixed feelings at this time of year--sad to leave, yet so tired of the same old faces and ready for a change.

It's good that we have summer--to help us rejuvenate for what lies ahead.

Happy Summer, pally!

bittersweet, but good.

Yes---leaving is hard.. We leave what we are used to, what is comfy; and then step out into a brand new world... Scary though--but exciting..

When I took a job in Tennessee in 2000--and left a comfy job and my family, I truly stepped out into the world... I stepped out of my box and went somewhere where I knew nobody.... BUT--I was excited and knew that God was with me.. Soon after I got there, I met George... The rest as they say is history... Thanks for new direction!!!!

I'm so happy for you, Tracy...
Hugs,
Betsy

It's bittersweet to leave behind and yet reach ahead. I've never regretted a move I made within my school district.

In order to avoid burn out - something that plagues us as teachers, we must constantly seek to renew and re-define ourselves. Brava to you!!

The end of the school year always brought on a strange melancholy--still feel it at the end of May.

Happy moving on!

I am sure it is always hard at the end of a year being a teacher, saying goodbye, remembering about the ups and lows of the year, how much the kids grew in so many ways, how influential you were in their lives for a short period of time, and then to have to say goodbye and move on to the next class. But it does seem like where your interests will be next year will be a worthy one indeed!

Nothing more rewarding that finding, then following and executing one's heart's desire. Glad you are on your way.

Oh, man--my BABY graduates 8th grade this year. Next year, for a single year, I will have two in high school, then my older will think about fleeing the coop.

Good for you pursuing your dream with those special needs kids--they are lucky to have you!

Such a lovely post, Tracy. I hope your journey brings all that you envision, for your Highest Good. :-)

P.S. Yes, everyone out in blog land will be kept up-to-date on the situation with my neighbours. Actually, I hope there's nothing to report, in terms of further negative energy. But I won't hold my breath.

You will do well!
And....no I don't know what or where I will be teaching yet...but if I keep my kids as first graders I won't have to let them go yet :)

This year seems to have gone so fast, and yes, it is difficult to see students move on. I have several graduating seniors going off to college. I will certainly miss them!

Lovely post Tracy and the sail is such an excellent picture for this.

One thing I will say your new students are in for the treat of their short lives having you as teacher. Your kind smile and positive attitude will be such a blessing to them.
