Three Things I Think I Think...

“Truth is one forever absolute, but opinion is truth filtered through the moods, the blood, the disposition of the spectator.”

by Wendell Phillips.

I don’t often dole out my opinions as a result of another fitting quote ‘Opinions are like ass-h----, everyone has them!’ ...while I am NOT a fan of that quote, it serves its purpose and typically if no one really cares to hear my opinions enough to ask, I don’t by and large serve them. So to share these things I think, is an opportunity for individuals to either agree, disagree, or sustain; take your pick~

1.) I think this working gig is for the birds . . . Really, while tracked out I went from having all the time in the world to write, to blog, to catch up with friends, to read, to play and to scrapbook and now you want me to do what? Return to work? . . .UGH!!!

Something about this concept just doesn’t seem ‘right’ to me~ perhaps in my next life I will be re-incarnated into a person who is independently wealthy so I no longer have to work OR my work can be done out of the haven of my home. Doesn’t that sound reasonable to you?

2.) I think basically the world is going to hell in a hand-basket, if you want to know the truth. Seriously, the price of gas is rising, the cost of food is astronomical, various sections of the world are in lethal turmoil and we as citizens of the United States of America are emotionally and economically being used as pawns in the proverbial government chess game.

Now really, it’s not my style to talk politics or religion, however, it angers me that oil companies, bank managers and CEO’s, to name a few are declaring exorbitant profits as a record number of individuals' homes are going through foreclosure, people are strained to make a decision between eating and paying the electric bill and additional families and children in our country are declared ‘homeless’.

I just think it is an atrocity…

3.) I think I am blessed beyond belief with friends . . . and it’s not that I have an enormous quantity of friends. I have quality relationships with individuals that support me and love me and let's face it- put up with me!

I happened upon a quote that reads:

“Friendship isn't about whom you've know the longest. It's about who came, and never left your side...”

I read these profound words and respond with ‘Amen’! People whom I just met through blogging have become my dearest friends as well as those blossoms of life-time chums that have touched my existence from grade school to college to present.

I am thankful for each and every one of you and I mean that with much sincerity~ My life is rich thanks to YOU!

Awww. That was sweet. You just went on a whirlwind, didn't you?! From bemoaning a bit, to venting, to hugging us all... :)

Thanks, and for what it's worth, I share your opinions!

I didn't think you would end on such a high note but I'm glad you did. It is great that the people who visit our blogs even care about our flowers, dishes, lives and sincerely care about is. You're right about what's going on and it is very worrisome. I think you need a {{{Hug}}}.

I think your opinions are interesting and valid, and I agree with every one of them!

Part of my daily schedule, now that I'm not working, is to read the blogs I follow. I feel like everyone is a friend, even if I don't leave a comment.

I can totally relate! While I don't get into politics (I am very political) or religion (it's very private to me) on my blog, I have read some interesting discussions on both. Some I've agreed with. Some not so much. I never allow myself to comment. My comments are saved for people that I've come to value as friends in the world of blogging. You are one. I look forward to what's going on and actually get a bit concerned when some blogs are not updated for awhile. Who knew this would come to pass when I entered the blogging world?

Best,
Bonnie

I'm blessed with friends too. Always good to count your blessings.

We had some similar thoughts this morning, blogging friend.
I have to say that not working is wonderful, but you have to reach a point of financial readiness before retiring in order for it to be wonderful. I hope that is possible for you soon.
I personally like to share opinions, especially on religion and politics. Maybe that makes me an a-hole? Hope not. I do try to be reasonable and respectful.
I can't decide if the world is going to hell, or if this is just the next iteration of human craziness. I do believe it can go to hell if we let it, if we bury our heads in the sand and pay no attention.
Spout off all you want, my friend.

I think you hit the vents right on the button! Things do not seem to be getting any better!
The last part is so nice and so true! People that discount "blogging" just don't have a clue as to how real it is...

I agree with you also. I don't know what is happening with everything around us, but I do think it will be interesting. I have had to work all my life, so I blog when I get a chance, read when I get a chance and comment when it is about something I am passionate about, or when it is someone that I consider a friend. Friends come to our lives in many ways, one of which is blogging.

Working from home when and how you want would be great, wouldn't it. :)

The state the world is in makes me shake my head. I quite often avoid listening to the news altogether because it just brings me down.

Friends are definitely a blessing, and I feel very lucky in that area.

I hope you are having a good week, Tracy.

I leave something at most every blog I read.

I used to question my superiors," And you expect 100% after letting me be on vacation?"That work stuff is nice to have in this day especially. Plus I hate it when i go to the store and they always, never fail, want money.Sitting around enjoying the easy life could become boring anyway.

I must say ~ you have a very valid point on your comments and I agree with them. But I am thinking people complained about the same issues 100's of years ago as well ~ so things change but somehow they stay the same ~ right?

I told hubby if he would just get a second job I wouldn't have to work.... he didn't seem to think I was funny... ;)

Hope you are having a lovely week Tracy!

I'm a lot more optimistic about things -- don't know why, but I hold great hope in our future.

PS -- Gas prices are rising because we are being gouged by the oil companies. Supply is up and demand is down.

I don't always get to leave a comment. I enjoy your blog and blessed by it.

It is hard to stay positive when the wheels appear to be coming off but I am glad you ended on an up note. There is always something to boost us up again and usually it is our friends and family. Hold near those who are dear.

I so agree with you on all of this and like you I don't like to get political on my blog but sometimes it happens.
We live in some pretty sad times right now and scary so venting is good for all of us. Just look at the stupid one I wrote today. Only venting and it was not as well written as yours.
You are loved just as much and look how many friends think the same of you. Not counting Dawn you have a large following.
Love ya

Hi Little Friend of Mine, Such a great post --full of all kinds of thoughts and emotions... I felt the same way when I was working... But I worked hard all of my life so that I could RETIRE and enjoy the life I am having now. If I had not saved and put money away, I would still be working at age 69.... SO--hang in there. You will get to retire someday... (I know--that's not the answer you wanted to hear right now...)

I am very political and have strong opinions. I even lost a good blog friend once by spouting my opinion to her. Guess she wasn't much of a friend though... BUT--that taught me to keep MUM while blogging...

I am worried about our govt. and the state of our country now. I have to stay away from the news --or else I find myself getting depressed.

Blogging is FABULOUS--and I have so many great friends --like YOU.... Thanks be to God for that!!!!!

Love you,
Betsy

I pretty much agree with everything you said!! You tell it like it is! Isn't it great to have blog friends who respect our opinions and want to hear what we say, to have this forum to do this? Well done, my friend!!

I'm freaking out about the gas prices. With three kids, running them here and there, a husband who commutes. But I count my blessing every day.

Though I share your opinions I can read the frustration here. Every time I go out I have the same view of the world and ... it pisses me off too. Take your time, don't add stress, settle in that job and remember..

We are not going anywhere and will be here when you need us :) Love ya back!

I am 22 teaching days away from my spring break. I oh so know what you are saying about work getting in the way of life. I'm to the point where my life is my work, and I don't like that.

I think I think I agree with the three things you think! Hang in there Tracy, retirement is great!

I am thankful for you too!
ever since we met thru POTW I think it was you have been a kind and supportive friend
you're really good at that

I agree with your 3 things

I'll also tell you that I have gone from working long long hours to not and it too has its disadvantages
my days have little framework and I miss pleasing clients and feeling my work mattered

Ah Tracy!! A girl after my own heart!! Great post! I don't make it a common practice, but when I'm asked my opinion I'll give it. If it's not what they wanted to hear...probably shouldn't have asked me. I'll tell the truth unless I think it will hurt their feelings. Have to use a little common sense I guess when giving opinions....and that's my opinion! lol Nothing better than a good bunch of friends!!! ...debbie

Hear! hear! I agree with you.

The more some things change the more they stay the same. Remind me of an old scouting song.
Make new friends - but keep the old.
One is silver and the other's gold.
New made friend like new made wine
Age will mellow and refine.
The blogging world gives us a real chance to find those special people who seem to really get us and we get them - whether it be in decorating style or hobbies of chose. Where maybe in our current neighborhoods we seem to be misfits.
Let the world crumble around us (well not really) - at least we have friend who will see us through our ups and downs.

Hugs,
Penny

I agree with you that the cost of gas, oil, food, etc, has gotten way out of control and I believe all of these negatives is because of politics and greed. I try not to think about the negative and focus on the positive instead but it does get difficult to do so at times.
I love that you ended your post about the importance of the quality of friends. I too do not have a great deal of friends but the ones I have all adhere to the quote you left us..."It's about who came, and never left your side...”

amy @ Life in Pink Hi-Tops said...

Thought provoking post. I have never heard the opinion quote before--it made me laugh.

Unknown said...

Tracey! I for one love hearing your opinions. it's what makes us all unique.
The working thing...yes it is for the birds! What gets me is I see people who could work but choose not too, who collect welfare and use my tax dollars and they're doing better off than us. I can't stand people who take advantage of the system.
The hell in a handbasket thing..yep.. that's exactly where it's going. We haven't taken of this earth we way we should and now we're paying for it. I'm not much into politics either but I could probably do better than some of these people who hold a title. lol
Now for the friendship..I think we are as blessed as we want to be. Love that quote too!
