A Ghastly Experience...

Let me tell you right off, I am not a shopper!

If you don't believe me, go to this post I wrote regarding shopping: http://thinkingspot-tracy.blogspot.com/2010/08/i-hate-shopping.html  However, I won't bore you with those details again but want to inform you of a recent shopping experience of late; bathing suit shopping!

UGH!!! I'd rather walk across hot coals or sit in a hailstorm then go searching for a bathing suit OR bra shopping-which is why I wait until those contraptions are in threads before I actually say I'm in need of new ones.

Anyway, my first mistake was allowing my husband Scott to accompany me on this ghastly experience- I obviously was NOT in my right mind on that particular morning to allow him to walk through the racks with me locating the most skimpy pieces of cloth and instructing me to 'try it on!'

Really? I'd consider a nudist beach before I'd wear something of that nature...

AHHH,  I won't bore you with the details but did want to show some pictures of this excursion-YES! I have pictures...

So, tell me what you think?

Or what do you think of this selection?

This one was a contender as well~

and that's exactly what I said....

Happy Day to you...

Hahahaha, good grief - I almost fell off my chair laughing. You took your husband?? Honey, that is a solo shopping trip. Bathing suit shopping should be illegal. But thanks for the great morning laugh.

Oh I love shopping! Sorry! But my body's not made for bikinis! Rather the classic 1950's type of bathing suit! I love those!!

:-)

Take care

You took your husband????? When I shop for a bathing suit, I am so "clandestine" that I'm sure they must think I'm a shoplifter!! I'm thinking of going to a costume shop and see if they'll sell me one of those "bathing ensembles" from the early part of the 20th century!!

I'm working on a tomato soup recipe! Thanks for asking.

Best,
Bonnie

Those are priceless and sadly true as gravity wins the battle.
I have personally given up and taken to the lawn chair and watch. Sigh.

Bathing suits are the WORST! Then bras, then shorts. Ugh.

I can't really wear a two-piece anymore because I have lumpy thighs and I need either those shorts or a skirt, but then the tops are either too much fabric or not enough. Then I don't like the feel of a one-piece. I never take anyone with me to do that dirty job--I don't want to scare the family.

I swear by Nordstrom for bra fittings. And they typically have the same bras online year after year, so if you find one you like, you can easily re-order. That's what I did. While they are not cheap, they have the BEST bras and the best fitters EVER.

Hey girl. Shop athleta.com or h2owear. Com. I think llbean has some decent ones. There are lots of decent 2 piece suits that let you keep your dignity. Shipping us worth it to avoid the store! Xo Kat.

oh, thanks for these!!! :)

Thanks for the reminding me why I haven't bought a bathing suit in over 20 years!

My favorite suit is from the 1800s. Yes I said it. Hides everything.

Nobody needs to see what happening by way of gravity.

If my husband went with me, I'd come home with a wardrobe from the 50's and he'd be in cardiac arrest from the prices! He still thinks you can buy a pair of jeans for eight dollars and bologna for 99 cents a pound! ha! Good luck- loved the cartoons!

OMG, I just about spit out my iced coffee. Too funny!

NEVER talk your partner with you when shopping for clothes, especially bathing suits! Hahaha!

In my case, I'm on my own now, so that eliminates one factor. But I also haven't worn a bathing suit of any kind in many years. I couldn't. Too much weight, too much cellulite and way too many spider veins.

Aging is a joy. LOL.

I hate shopping with a passion. I do most everything online...even bathing suits.

Never met another woman who felt this way. I don't mind bra shopping but bathing suit shopping is a nightmare!Thank the Lord for the internet is all I can say! I've had great luck that way. (eddie bauer, Altheta)

Just remember to not be one of those ladies I talked about yesterday! :-)

I commiserate with you and share your disdain at shopping for Bathing suits. (Of course they don't have much that is built for the 60 year old body.) So I will continue to stuff myself into my old one for as long as I can.

Penny

I agree that shopping is a ghastly experience. Bathing suits are the worst, but bras are pretty bad too now that I've gone from a 36 B to a
36 long.

Teresa Evangeline said...

Oh, Tracy, too funny. I haven't bought a new bathing suit in years, and it will more than likely stay that way.

I don't like shopping either. Why should I have to stand in front of a mirror and acknowledge all the weight I've gained.

OMG!!!! Still laughing....

Funny, funny and would be even more so if it wasn't sooooo true!! I hate to shop, too, and particularly for a bathing suit these days!! I don't have a weight problem, but you don't have to have one to look scary in a swimsuit at this stage of the game! Love the cartoons!! Thanks for the laughs to start my day!!

Enjoyed this!
You ar kidding, you didn't really take him? I also hate shopping with a passion and I do not buy bathing suits ANYMORE. So one more problem I don't have to deal with.

You took your husband on a bra and bathing suit day??!! Good grief. What a nightmare.
But at least you can laugh about the experience....there just can't be a more depressing thing to shop for than bathing suits. You have my smile and my sympathy!

I solved the swimsuit shopping agony years ago when I discovered Land's End's 'tugless' suits. ('Tugless' because they don't ride up -- not even in the water!) I just send them the requisite measurements and choose the suit of my choice and voila! they send me a suit that fits just fine and lasts well.

OH, my. Maybe that's why I don't swim.

Oh my goodness, you're terrible! I was laughing out loud and now my daughter wants to see why. No way!!

Thanks so much for your encouragement and prayer yesterday. Today is a bit better.

HA HA HA---love it, Trac..... I wondered when you said you and HUBBY were going bathing suit shopping.... Yipes to that one!!!!!

Love the cartoons... I'm like you---would rather eat nails than go shopping...

Hope you finally found one --but isn't this the time of year they put out the Fall clothes and put away the summer ones?????? GADS!!!!

Cute post..
Hugs,
Betsy

Omigosh, those are terrible!! :) But, I feel your pain. Bathing suit shopping is kind of the devil. Of course, there's always online shopping for this stuff... perfectly anonymous and you can always send it back!

Ginny Hartzler said...

Did you get one? Order one from QVC, they have very nice ones for all shapes that cover things up and make you look thinner.

Dawning Inspiration said...

Oh my - I so agree - bra AND bathing suit shopping are NO fun!

LOL ... I hate shopping as well ... even more for a swimming suit!

You are bad! Chuckle!

TY for you sweet wishes for the little church down our road. The congregation I am sure will rebuild. All that is left is the frame.

Have a wonderful week.

Bawahahaha! The first one is my favourite!

Well I love love love shopping but I would rather clean out my toilet with my toothbrush then go bathing suit shopping. Nope... that would be very low on my list. ;)

Yikes! Too funny. I think I had one brief week in my entire adult life where I actually looked good in a bathing suit. Now, I really dread the whole experience. Ah, age!

These are funny! I know the shopping problem, I let hubs do most. Of course, bra he cannot do the shopping

Where on earth did you find those cartoons? I actually saw a similar sight in an E-Mail my friend sent me of pictures of Walmart customers. This ole gal had her sweat pants pulled up over her boobs like a one piece outfit. So these aren't too far fetched......Scary huh!

Good ideas from all your responders.

I was at a public pool last week. An Islamic-clad woman was watching her kids swim. The girl, probably 12 years old, wore a swim outfit with long legs and long arms. Beautiful girl, modest clothing. Of course, she didn't sag anywhere, either!

Jules said...

Looks like you hit a chord with this one. :) I hate bathing suits. Here we just go to the lake in shorts and a t-shirt.

Happy weekend and good luck tomorrow welcoming all those kids. :)
