Sweet Dreams are made of this...

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): Sweet dreams are made of this. Get out a pen and paper and take notes on any imaginative concepts that bubble to the surface.

It's not a habit of mine to read my horoscope, however, this morning it offered me the perfect excuse to write…how lovely~ The permission I gained was imperative to my psyche knowing that I am shooting for new stars; doesn’t everyone need dreams to reach toward to keep their lives purposeful?

I adore being a teacher, and affecting the lives of my students. Most days I can’t ever see myself retiring, however within the past year a couple of innovative dreams have penetrated my soul. I fantasize of writing and publishing a book or two.

I aspire to start a scrapbooking business on the beach to assemble photo creations for others who don’t enjoy the craft as I do and will allow me to capture the essence of the special ones in their world. I couple this goal with the idea of having my studio overlook the ocean; ahhhh, what better atmosphere to get the imaginative juices flowing than to be immersed by the ocean’s beauty?

My husband, Scott has a longing to open a donut/bagel shop at the beach so we can be beach bums collectively; anybody have a couple hundred thousand dollars they’d like to donate? ...just thought I'd ask~

My point being, just because we age doesn’t mean our dreams cease to exist. I wonder, are the ideals of our life as an adult more luring because the inhibitions of youth are no longer as prevalent? Or perhaps we stop listening to ‘could’ve, should’ve and would’ve’ thoughts that saturate our dreams.

At any rate, I like the consent of my horoscope and in the meantime, I’ll let the words of my book bubble to the surface and dream of that place by the ocean.

Thank you for sharing your dreams. It's good to have goals like this. It keeps us really open to life, gives it focus and meaning. I think life at the beach would be lovely...

Finding that purpose is nice to have in a dream and make it into reality.

Great post. Keep thinking about those dreams and you'll find yourself moving closer to accomplishing them, until one day you'll find yourselves on the beach living those dreams.

It's beautiful that you and your hub dream...and such gorgeous beachy dreams. But, why not? Dreams can come true!

I think dreams nourish the soul, make the spirit light and happy. I love to dream!

I love the James Dean quote

Your scrapbooking business dream is simiar to my wanting to make a business out of creating photo books for special ocassions
right now I do as gifts
and I love donuts and bagels :)

your question about the lawyer I fired - he never did explain, he had his assistant talk to me and she was no help and very uncomfortable
thanks for the encouraging words :)

Wish I was rich and I'd give you the money! Yes, we need to dream, always. (Our place...we sit about 2 miles out of a small town where I go to get my mail and about 10 min. from the local grocery store. Anything else, like a Walmart..45 min. and a mall..two hours. No, nothing to be scared of here..just peace and beauty!) ;D

I believe we are meant to live our dreams in the now. Too much time is spent waiting for that moment, the perfect time, to do what we want to do.

I'm in a different circumstance than you, Tracy. But I am living proof that dreams do come true.

Love your blog. It makes me think.

PS -- I'll send you an email about the yeast. :)

interesting quote from James Dean, considering! And I think you're right. Our dreams are always with us. It's we who give up on them~ Best with yours! <3

You always give us something to think about. I had never really considered how our dreams change as we get older (and wiser). Seems like the dreams of youth are often more about "things" whereas as we age we seem to lean further towards happiness and contentment as opposed to flashy cars, big house, consuming stressful careers.

Oh I can see your shop now: "Bagel Scraps!" :)

The way I look at it, dreams don't have an expiration date, so you might as well keep pursuing them. I hope all of yours come true someday. :-)

Thanks, Tracy, for your comments re: Annie's ashes on my Musings blog. As it turned out, I went and picked up the urn and her paw print and fur for just that reason--didn't want it hanging over my head. I've looked at everything, now that I'm home--and packed it all away till the time is right for me to put the items out in a special place.

As for dreams...I'm so glad people still do dream and have goals. I've been without both for a very long time now and it makes life so grey sometimes.

On the other hand, being essentially without dreams (or more accurately, understanding that the life you dreamed of never will come to pass in this reality), can open you up to other possibilities, can open you to compassion and greater understanding of loss and suffering. Or it has for me, anyway.

Universal Blessings and Peace.

Sounds like the beach and your plans are a perfect way to retire.
I find the best part of life is to have something to look forward to even if it's a dream.

I have dreams too but I am waiting to retire before I jump on them. I want to open my own business too but I want one where you don't need a whole army of workers, and as an owner, I don't have to do much. I'm thinking on the lines of a laundry mat, or honestly, a self serve dog washing mat. We don't have any of those in this area and there have been many times I wished there was a place I could take my dogs and wash them that was inside but not pay the price of a groomer.
Dreams are good, it's what keeps us going on those long, hard days!

Your dreams sound good to me! I would love to eat one of those donuts while looking at the photo books! We are friends with a couple in their 70's, retired. They just sold their lovely big house on a corner lot that was what they had worked for all their lives. Why? They bought a HUGE fixer upper on lots of acerage to start a Bed and Breakfast with gift shop, a long held dream of hers. At almost 80!!!

Dreaming is good, Trac.... AND--you all can make your dreams come true --if you work hard at it.... So many of us (me included) don't think our dreams can come true --so we just give up on them... My advice: Don't give up... Make it happen!!!!!!

Hugs,
Betsy

Absolutely!! My husband's dream is to run the umbrella concession on an Italian beach. My fantasy -- to be sitting under one of those umbrellas!

What a perfect horoscope! Sometimes real life gets in the way of our dreams, but it's nice to hold tight to those goals and keeping moving toward them.

You're so right, a picture, a song, a taste, a smell can some time trigger the flow of ideas and thoughts..Dream keeps me moving, and yes dreaming..

I think they day your dreams die is the day you die. And I think you need to take some steps to achieve some of your dreams, even if it is just taking a class on writing a business plan or how to get published. Go get your DREAMS!! :)

I love your beach dreams; they go together so romantically! :D

My husband and I used to live near the ocean, but no in sight of it. It was romantic just being that close to it. He now wants to live in view of a lake; I'd like that too. It is SO GREAT to have dreams! :D I HOPE YOURS COME TRUE!

Funny, but I have not even given much thought to my dreams for the future. How sad is that? I think it's lovely that you can see yourself there and have aspirations to fulfill.

I can relate to your love of teaching as well but I gave it up because I dreamed of taking my part-time pet sitting business to a full-time business and I'm glad I followed my heart even though at times I wonder if I was crazy to do so because the paycheck changes from week to week.
Take my advice, follow your dreams because those dreams surfaced in your mind for a reason. Even if you simply started teaching scrapbooking in your kitchen on the weekends you are still doing something that pleases you. You could even teach scrapbooking to your students or to your co-workers, right?
By the way, you won the SILLY SATURDAY PHOTO CAPTION CONTEST! I will need your mailing address so I can send your prize and your certificate, okay? My email address is misskitty32504(AT)yahoo(DOT)com.
