One More Given Day...

Throughout my travels from beginning to end of the local newspaper this morning, I perused the obituaries. I didn’t spot my name or my face so I presume I’m alive for an additional day. In that, I can rejoice!

After the week and a half I’ve had with a sinus and ear infection, this is certainly a point to cherish. Nonetheless, my trials are small and insignificant in comparison to my buddy Jack- whom I’ve met through Debra at  Four Angels Momma . I mentioned earlier that Jack is enduring Stage IV, High Risk Neuroblastoma and is in need of prayers for the hell-staking path his young life is on.

Jack has been in the hospital for endless days waiting for the doctors to get a handle on and manage his immense pain at this time; no such luck yet. However, it’s my continual prayer for him. I don’t proclaim to know when or where the curtain will close on his life, but I do know whenever I get a notification from CaringBridges, my heart stops with a moment of hesitancy before opening the website and reading his mom, Jen’s latest update.

So it is on this hallowed day, one in which we were granted further breaths to address the world as we actively engage in our daily events, that I extend a heartfelt pull that you summon a prayer for Jack.

"Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath."

Prayers for little Jack, those who love him and those who treat him!

There's something going around. I had it. My husband is getting over it. We are never sick--well, until this year!

Feel better soon.

My heart felt prayer is for this young child that GOD will touch his life in such a way that GOD will work through this young boy and his family to show others just what Grace and Faith are all about. Its in these hard times GOD shows himself to those. If it were me, I would offer up myself and take this boy's place. I don't see why children have to suffer but I am not the one in control. GOD will reveal his reasons in time so we have to have faith he knows what he is allowing there will something good from it.

Bless this young child and his family that the Dr's will learn from him all they need to know in order to help someone else. For if we did not have sickness, how would dr's ever learn how to eradicate diseases. GOD bless this sweet boy and others like him.

It is stories like this that make you hug your family members and thank God that you and your family is healthy. Sad that it takes a story like this to remind me to do this :o(

I have just prayed, Tracy. Why do children have to suffer such pain? We don't know, we can only trust and pray...

One day I'd like to ask my DADDY why children have to suffer this way. Till then, I'll just keep asking HIM to heal Jack, and to keep his family and friends strong for him.

I hope you're feeling better, too. Stop by when you can. I have something for you....

When I was making children many asked me if I wanted a girl or boy and I replied healthy. My well wishes to you and this family.

It's interesting the reminders we get as we hover on the brink of self-pity of those that have it so much worse. I am sending hugs to you and prayers for Jack.--Inger

We feel sorry for ourselves when we are sick and then you see or read about a child who is going through a terrible illness and it certainly puts things in perspective doesn't it?

Thinking good thoughts and sending warm hugs!

Can't even begin to imagine how difficult this is for Jack or his family who loves him so. Of course I'm sending love and prayers. No one should suffer--especially children. :(

Oh sweet Tracy, thank you. Any and all prayers for dear Jack are appreciated more than I can express. Jack has spent so much of his life in pain, putting up with treatment after treatment, losing a good portion of his hearing, and feeling "different" from other children his own age. Yet, he has always been a very happy child who embraces life in such a positive way. I think that is part of the reason he is having such a difficult time "releasing". Jack is my hero. Thank you for embracing him and his family. As difficult as it is to witness such a young boy dying, Jack is worth knowing. Through him, we can all learn something about the preciousness of life and how we could all gain a thing or two by learning to live as if we were dying.

Thank you for this beautiful post. Your kindness touches my heart.

Hugs and love,
Debbie
