"E" is for Eeyore....

Perceptions + Quotes + Reality = A to Z Challenge

Eeyore is irresistible even though his outlook on life is full of gloom and doom. In the saddest tone that only Eeyore can muster, he announces ‘Thanks for noticing me!’ His somber dark manner exhibits Eeyore’s ability to create his own misery in his day to day existence amongst his friends in the 100 Acre Wood.
In addition, this loveable blue-gray donkey from the cherished Winnie the Pooh has few expectations of his friends and doesn’t appear to think highly of himself. However, although his outward perception of himself is quite limited everyone adores Eeyore! He endears himself to the masses through his ‘woe is me’ attitude about life in general.

However, according to MY truth Eeyore is cautious and very thoughtful. He appears to be a careful thinker and has a strong desire to be loved but remains guarded ‘just in case’ he’s forgotten by his friends. As Eeyore often is found alone in a pensive reflective state, he chooses his words carefully.  Eeyore is the consummate philosopher and an intent observer.  Eeyore is me...
“A little consideration, a little thought for others, makes all the difference. Or so they say.”

I always felt close to Eeyore when reading to my boys. He seemed to beg a hug.

I have to admit that Eeyore has always been one of my favorite characters just for the reasons you find him endearing too.

Eeyore was always my favorite character. He seems to embody sorrow, cynicism, and melancholia. And yet he endures, survives. Even when the honey jar is empty and the balloon is popped, he is content with putting the popped balloon into and out of the jar. It is enough that he was remembered, thought of. We have so much to learn from him.

i do a great voice of him

I love Eeyore the best. I wish I'd kept the soft toy pattern of him I had years before Disney changed his appearance.

Eeyore is on my coffee much where he is quite happy and has a butterfly perched on his nose. The rest of the gang is there also. They all cheer me up every morning, but Eeyore is my favorite as donkeys are my favorite animals.

I have a few friends like Eeyore, and they always need cheering up.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Excellent choice of E word subject!

BTW - One year at work, we dressed up at Halloween as all the characters in the 100 Acre Wood. I was deemed to be Rabbit (by my co-workers). I saw myself as more the Owl type.

Tracy, I love Eeyore, he's so quietly wise!

Hi Tracy :-) Eeyore is my fave character - I even have a little necklace.
To answer your question about flash fiction, it's a very short story form, usually 1000 words or less but including all of the elements of a "full" story - characters, plot, beginning/middle/end, etc. Because of the brevity, back story and detail is often only hinted at. It's a great way to hone writing skills as well as editing, and has become a genre in its own right. Not all of my A to Z posts are flash, but a lot of them are. Thanks for stopping by!

I have always liked Eeyore. He always seemed one of the wisest and most sensible of the 100 Acre Woods. Many happy returns of the day to you, Tracy! ;)

I am so Eeyore! That's why my second blog is "Looking for Tigger." A friend told me a few years ago that I had the Eeyore thing down flat and now I needed to infuse a little Tigger into my personality. :)

Aww, I love Winnie the Pooh and all the characters in the 100 acre wood so much. I've always related to Eeyore, he's a doll and I just want to give him a hug. I've been told I'm more like Rabbit though, and I will admit I'm more than a little high strung LOL.

This post made me smile so much, great choice for E.

Eeyore was my daughter's favourite character and she cried when she 'met' him at Disneyworld, even though she was 12 at the time!
