Honey, he's HOME!!!

I had the best sleep last night I've had since my son, Nicholas left last Saturday. If you stopped by last week, you caught my post on my boy being away from home for the holidays. If not, you can catch it here: http://thinkingspot-tracy.blogspot.com/2010/11/blessings-abound.html

As you can imagine, I could hardly contain myself or focus on much of anything until his plane touched down Sunday at 3:50pm. As much as we longed for his laugh, smiles and endless chatter, he had a marvelous time! I continue to gather such evidence from stories and experiences he shares from days in Ohio. And pictures...he loves to take photos so the following are memories he important to him that tells of his week with family!

a journey begins with a thousand steps...

Maddy, his best friend~

Golden Trees...
The cabins they stayed in; check out the wagon wheels...
...along the way...

A blanket of leaves...

Glassy wonder...

I love the beautiful sky...

And you can NOT leave the great Buckeye state without a donut
with scarlet and gray sprinkles...

As for this Mom, I'm sure glad he's home!

I'm glad you got a good night's sleep. I don't have any kids, but I would worry about my dogs if they weren't with me. Thanks for visiting my blog. I'm looking forward to getting to know you.

I always worried when my chicks weren't under my wings so to speak. I am glad he home and had a good time. Glad you finally got some sleep.

Canyon Girl,
I think any creature; child or animal who tugs on our heartstrings is susceptable to our longings. We have a golden who also slept the best he has all week due to the arrival of Nicholas. Hurricane slept outside the door and wasn't as restless!

Wanda's Wings, yes, it was good to sleep. I hope you are doing well!

Tough giving up your child for very long. I used to get anxious when I went out to eat without mine. When they get older you become a separate part of their lives, mine are both out of the home.

How nice he took so many pictures so you could share his trip with him.
Loved the quote.

My Mom & Dad's 30 year old son just got back from China... always good to have them come home at any age. His wife is pretty happy about it too. Slurps, Tucker

Out on the Prairie, YES, anytime is difficult to give up your child. WE've had an enjoyable day together thus far!

Arkansas Patti, I do alot of scrapbooking so I sent him with the camera hoping he'd take a few! it is a great quote, isn't it? useful in many circumstances!

Tucker, I agree..at any age it's wonderful to be home. I must say you are a beautiful boy :)

Oh, how exciting! I'm so glad he made it home safe and sound. The pictures are amazing!

My twins were gone to outdoor science school the week before Thanksgiving. I counted the hours until they returned, but they had such a great time. These kids are all growing so fast!

Julie,
Thank you! He's got a pretty good eye :)

I know it was difficult for you to give your children up for school especially before the holidays. At least they were back for the special day!
I don't know about you but the days seem to go by faster and faster the older they get; dread...

Oh yes, I promise the days go by faster. It is very hard to give them up and very hard to watch them go. The good news is that they usually come back from time to time. I love his pictures, he did a great job!! So glad that he is home safe with a wonderful experience to look back on.

Thanks Patty Ann...I do NOT look forward to the times getting any faster, but you're right, the good news is they come home from time to time and besides, I guess that's our job; to raise them to be good productive happy individuals to carry on our legacy!

I enjoyed my visit very much Heather, you are very talented. I can't wait to see you again!

My kids are 20 and 17 and I still worry about them when they aren't home. My youngest just started driving and I cringe everytime the door shuts. lol
Loved seeing his photos and loved that cute little cabin with the wagon wheels!

Tracy said...

Erin, yeah, they are fun pictures!

Brian, yes, he's a great kid; thank you!

Kimmy, so the worrying doesn't end, huh? Oh well, I guess it's something we as parents must live with; letting go; UGH!

I have two sons and two daughters and while they are now grown and scattered over the country, I still remember how much I missed them when they would be away at camp or whatever when they were growing up. Thank you for your visit and comment, always appreciated.

Tracy, I saw you came by and left such a nice note! Thanks, gal! And now here I am and I've been reading back and having a great time. The vultures, omg, I read about that in the news, too, and it made me more than sick. I agree with you completely. But then I got to Thanksgiving and your mother in the kitchen. I almost fell over the desk laughing. I thought you were talking about me, LOL. I said those same words about a year ago when I hit my toe into the corner of the door. I was surprised to find out that I could outdo a truck driver.
Hey, I see you're following me now and I'm going to do the same with you. Love your page, it's adorable and plenty of good stuff to read :D
Cya soon ~~

Thank you for stopping by my blog!
I know what you mean about when the chicks leave the nest -- it's really hard especially at first. We went through it three times. Then they all came back!! Now (my mouth to God's ear), they all have their own homes.
Glad your chick is back in the nest. I love the photographs.

Honey all moms can relate to this post. I miss mine even now after they have left home and have started their own lives. It is sad everytime I watch them drive off.
So happy your son had a good trip but I am really happy for you that he is home safe and sound
Love

Dianne, it's okay to call him cute, I do it all the time. He is a very cute kid!

Daisy, there's nothing like a mom and her son/s, is there?

Sylvia and Carol, thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you return!

Jenny D, sorry, but I had to chuckle when I read about you hitting your toe in the corner of the door; I've been there-done that and yes, it hurts enough to spew a few! Thanks so much for stopping by. I can't wait to see you soon :)

KathyA, we live in a small town and swear our child will never leave...he even said that he'd never have to leave if our town would build a college :) he makes us laugh!

Yeah, Betsy, he has OSU and Maddy is wearing Carolina Hurricanes; how fun they are! portraying their loyalties to each other :)

Maggie, it is great to have him home...you are right, all moms can relate, I'm sure! we just 'know' don't we?

thank you all for stopping by...I feel so embraced!

It's always a worry when our babies are away from the nest. It's hard for mom's to survive the driver's license and the first drive alone. The first time my son drove to Saskatoon (3 hours away) by himself I think he cried from from the moment he left until the moment he walked back into the house! Oh but to see their wings spread does the heart good!
