Early blogging...

We leave behind a bit of ourselves wherever we have been~

Today has been a day of purging, cleaning and dismantling Christmas. I attain such pleasure from the holiday decorations but am keen on the seasonal trinkets being placed back in their perspective boxes just as well. I feel a sense of peace and calm when the house is uncluttered; interestingly enough much like my personality!

So it is on this date that I came upon some aged books I’d stashed away for safe keeping; one being a photograph album displaying nature scenes such as rainbows, sun rises and sun sets and snow. Under each picture was a typed verse or caption that my dearest and best friend Linda and I had either written ourselves or found to accompany each one. The volume was quite gripping given that I’d forgotten I even had it but more so since she AND our memories have been so prevalent in my mind as of late.

In junior and senior high school we played sports together, were co-editors of the yearbook, spent time at each other’s family and shared a strong emotional connection. Life happens as it does and we haven’t spoken in a massive number of years. However, finding this album brought her to mind and heart as well as instigated the wonderment of blogging in its infancy. Isn’t it reminiscent of what we do today? Darn, and to imagine that possibly we could been pioneers in this field!

The sweetest sound is the silence of peace...

Nice memories, I'm sure. I'm hoping she felt her heart stir with warmth and memories of you too. :)

So interesting that this would be your topic tonight, Tracy. Just a few moments ago, I hung up the phone from talking to my best friend from jr high/high school. She's in Fl and I'm in Va and we haven't seen each other in almost a half century. Well, that call lasted 3 hours and could have gone much longer if the phones hadn't died. Hopefully she'll visit in Feb or March, but it was just the best feeling talking like that. It was like not even one minute had passed. What a great night :D

Very eloquent.
And I hadn't thought of it that way, although you're right.

I guess I have a few 'early blogs' of my own, But I've never written so much as I do now... every day every day..

Holding on to friends like this is really unique. Our lives change and sometimes we move far apart. I have two from early in my life and remain a part of their lives and family.

No autobiography in my stories unless it is current. All are from interviews I have done while working on restoration around the country.

Such a touching post, Tracy. Isn't it funny how memories of someone or something can just appear all of a sudden like that triggered by something we haven't thought about in a while. This was an early kind of blogging, yes--a very special sharing and communication between you and your friend.

Doesn't your house always feel so much bigger after the Christmas decorations go down? I think it always does the soul good to purge, organize and de-clutter. At least, it always makes me feel good.

It sounds like you are remembering your friend with very fond memories. So sweet.

Hi Tracy, Love this post... We do leave a piece of us everywhere we go... How special is that!!!!! I love to look through all photo albums. What great memories!!!!

I am like you --in that I have to put my Christmas 'stuff' away as carefully as I got it out... It's a process --and I'd never just dump things in boxes... Everything has to go in its place.... BUT--apart from you, we don't take ours down until about the 1st --or sometimes as late as the 6th which is Epiphany. My schedule right now is to take things down next Tuesday and Wednesday.

Happy New Year.
Hugs,
Betsy

Yup. Such a terrible thing to happen especially on Christmas day. I really hope that the poor puppy survived the accident, 'cause I'm not sure if he's alive or not. But wherever he is right now, let's just hope that he is in a better place.

I am a new follower of yours, by the way. Thanks for visiting back. :)

Do you know where Linda is now? Are you thinking of calling her and telling her about the book? What memories this must have brought back!

I love the photos -- they really say so much, you didn't even need to post any words. But I'm glad you did -- what a rich history you and your friend Linda have. That's something to treasure.

Lovely thought provoking post. I had a dear best friend in high school. We were inseparable. Tracy her name was Linda too, seriously. I had no contact with her after our first year of college and then she had a serious health issue that led me to her in '02. We came together all too briefly and then it all fell apart again.

Yes, that was early blogging. And I have been journaling for years. Started when my Mom died in 1987. Journaling is good, puts peace in my heart. What a wonderful book for you to find this week before a New Year.

Very interesting...perhaps you can re-connect or maybe you haven't spoken for a reason... In either case -- you should find excitement and solace in your eloquence -- even in that earlier time.

Hi there, thanks for visiting my blog and your kindness..and for staying..me too, here. I like your blog too and I see that we both have much in common including goldens, I think yours is very beautiful, we have had red ones before but the one we have now is really light, his name is Cougar. Looking forward to a nice friendship here, I am adding you to my blog list too! ;D

Think you should pick up the phone. Time you two make that friendship current.
Perhaps if you have her address, send her a copy of this post.
That would be a great resolution for 2011.

I am taking a small break from packing a few more objects and returning them to storage... It will take me about 4 days to complete everything ... My village itself takes one day to take down and pack away... I am going to clean for guest tomorrow night and touches of winter will still be up... Have a peaceful and blessed New Years
