Our New Baby....

Since the incident two years ago this Christmas that stole from us our lovely cat Ginger, we've closed and locked our hearts unwilling to get emotionally involved with another kitty. (Read about it here) This created a dilemma for me since I grew up with cats and can't imagine a life without one, however, the tragedy of Ginger-Roozer kept our desire at a distance.

I was prepared months ago but my husband was still and continues to be heart-broken so I unfaltering added a kitty to my Christmas list; in fact a kitty was the ONLY thing on my list! My husband at last gave his blessing~

Today my son and I traveled to Petsmart where kitties are on display from the Carolina Animal Rescue and Adoption. Nicholas and I instantly set eyes our on ’Angelina Jolie’ and it was love at first sight! We held and cuddled her in our arms and when we posed the question as to why she hadn’t been adopted, the store clerk said she hadn’t cuddled with anyone for the two months of her viewing so few people weren’t attracted to her.

I presume she knew what she was waiting for and things happen for a reason because she nestled right into our laps and purred away as if to say ‘finally!’

We brought our new baby home last night and set in motion the process of acclimating ‘her’ into our lives; mostly Hurricane. She has no name yet other than her given name and that just doesn’t do her justice; perhaps, ‘Angel-Kitty’ or ‘Noel’? What do you think of Torie, short for Tornado so we could have a Hurricane and a Tornado? Sophie, Molly or Gabby? How about Zora or Black Ice?

Whatever her name, she’s found a place in our hearts.

This is the best news I've read! What a wonderful present. She one looks like a "Hope" to me. You had hope in finding a new friend and she had hope you would come. But I like Tornado :)

Merry Christmas

Oh Tracy, that is the bestest news! CH and I aren't quite there yet. Close. A house isn't a home without a kitty. Maybe 2 kitties for us. Congratulations, she is darling! I think Torie is interesting :) She is going to have such a great home and life in your hearts!

Merry Christmas!

Oh Tracy she's a beauty! I know she'll find a special place in your heart and settle right in. I don't know what I'd do without my furkids. We have 2 indoor kitties, 1 outdoor and 1 that goes in and out. And now we have a tom who's decided to adopt us. (all my babies are fixed so I know he's not here for a good time)
I like Torie..so you can have a Tornado and a Hurricane!

I like the Tornado name, never heard of that used. I tend to go away from human names, I had a friend name her chicken Steve, and I never took to that pet.I use names of places I have visited or images that impress me.I have 4 indoors and 2 in the stable, all rescued.Merry Christmas to you!

Congratulations on your new family member! I just "met" you yesterday, and your story about Ginger touched my heart. What a wonderful Christmas you will have this year with your new little girl, and your memories of Ginger.

I think Noelle might be an appropriate name for this little one :-)

Tsunami might be a fitting name or Solstice. She is adorable. Have a wonderful holiday!!

Awww! I'm so happy for all of you (to-be-named-later kitty especially!) She has found a loving home. And I'm so sorry to read of Ginger's tragedy. I am hoping your new kitten will smooth over a bit of your heartache. I'm certain she will. She is a regal beauty!

I am beyond thrilled for you, Tracy! This is great news and she is a beauty! I enlarged the pic and saw that cute little pink tongue of hers. Do you know, the way you adopted her is the exact same way I adopted my Lucy, and no one had ever bothered to pay any attention to her (until me of course). Now Lucy is the Queen and she knows it. The names that are tacked onto them there are really funny, but not so good in real life. So I was thinking of one for yours that would still incorporate the "given" name AND the holiday. "Jolly". How 'bout that? She is so adorable and I am so happy for all of you.
EXTRA Merry, Merry Christmas! XOXOXO

She had to be waiting for you. How about Breezie?
What ever you call her, I am sure she would answer simply to the sound of your voice.
Enjoy your new baby.

How beautiful she is. How very beautiful. My daughter (I went with her) about 4 years ago went to petsmart to find a kitty. Ivy was already 11 months old and her name wasn't Ivy either. She is spoiled and thriving today and totally in love with my daughter.

I think your new one looks like a Patty. :)

Merry Christmas!

Thanks for stopping by my blog, Tracy. I read the story of Ginger with a heavy heart. It is so hard to lose them, especially to something that seems so senseless. I hope that your lovely new addition will help ease some of the sense of loss. How about "Merry" for a name--since she is bound to add some much needed merriness in your hearts.
Merry Christmas!
Tammy

PATIENCE!!!! Because she was patiently waiting only for you. The first picture of her - bright eyes and a big smile!! She knows where she is now, home!! And all her patience has paid off! Let us know what you name her, and I hope you have a wonderful and blessed Christmas!! How exciting that a new member of your family will be spending it with you!!!

Oh Tracy, she is lovely, just lovely. We have a little black and white "tuxedo" kitty that my daughter rescued about a year and a half ago. She found him alone and shivering outside of her apartment on the grass. She kept him for a while but because she is in school and not home most of the time, he was spending way too much time alone. I have him now and my daughter sort of thinks that I will be giving him back someday, but she will just have to rescue another lost soul! I have become too attached:) We have a total of six cats and I adore them all so much. I could not see my life without my furry family members!

Tori is an adorable name! But whatever name you choose, she is meant to be with you. I know you will enjoy each other for many years to come. Congratulations on your new baby:)

Hugs,
Debbie

Okay, now you got me here for sure!
My wife volunteers for a cat rescue org. that works mainly out of a Petsmart! Most people have no idea what huge things Petsmart does for rescue organizations. They are the leading funder of animal welfare agencies across North America. Annually, about 400,000 pets find new homes thanks to Petsmart and the rescue organizations they support! I couldn't do it this year, but last year I was "Santa Paws" at our local Petsmart...I smelled a lot like dog after that...

I'm reading your posts in reverse order - newest to oldest. What excitement crossed my heart when I figured out Angelina was your newly adopted cat! Hurrah (this word sounds so party-like) to your family and Angelina! A good home, a good rescue, a great Christmas. And there is something special forever for you after today.
